Humanities Programme

The EJC Humanities Programme grooms thought leaders and change makers with a sustained passion for the Humanities.

“My experience entering HSP from a science background was like plunging into a vast, murky ocean. There were no fixed answers or set paths. Yet, with each module and seminar, I was taught not to fear, but enjoy the unknown!

For example, unique experiences in studying film taught us to explore how narratives are crafted. HSP was also where we had precious opportunities to dialogue with thoughtful academics, and gained perspective from their rich experiences. However, the greatest gift of HSP in my opinion was the privilege of the company in my HSP batchmates, where countless debates and discussions built meaningful friendships. I have learnt to swim in the ocean that is the humanities, and have not once regretted it.”

The World is Our Classroom

The EJC Humanities Programme brings a differentiated learning experience for scholars with a shared passion and aptitude for the Humanities. On your map are an overseas immersion trip, learning journeys, enriching seminars and the opportunity to delve into an area of interest and sharing it with your peers in a capstone presentation.

Learn more about our Humanities Programme learning journey to Korea in 2019 in the video below.

“The HSP Eunoia GO trip to South Korea was such a memorable experience for everyone as it exposed us to the beauty of an immersive learning experience and taught us how to look at the world through a humanities lens.

The subjects of Literature, Geography and History may seem very distinct, but this trip revealed the interconnectedness between these subjects - the study of Geography allowed me to examine the intentions behind the built urban environment of South Korea, and it is complemented by an understanding of Korea’s historical past (the Cold War) and how it has shaped the socio-cultural landscape of the nation. I am grateful for this extraordinary trip as it has taught me that the study of the humanities should not be confined to the classroom and in fact, we should constantly work towards real-world application of our academic knowledge so as to have a more comprehensive understanding of the world.”
